The stormLED R&D department is located at Chalmers
University of Technology in Gothenburg/Sweden with full
access to the MC2 clean room laboratory.

stormLED’s R&D team coordinates 3,3 EURm 6th
Framework EU project, Nandos and a 1,1 EURm ZnO
project, financed by SSF (Swedish Foundation for Strategic
Research). Furthermore the R&D team received recently
1,1 EURm from Wallenberg Foundation for purchase of
industrial equipment for fabrication of ZnO HB-LEDs.

Major breakthroughs have been made regarding the
stormLED’s proprietary nanowire LED structure. stormLED
has further developed its low temperature growth that
enables the use of inexpensive substrates and mass
production of ZnO HB-LEDs at a fraction of the price of
current HB-LED products. Electroluminescence with
direct emission of white light from ZnO nanowires with CRI
values above 90 has been achieved.

Based on the profound expertise of Professor Magnus
Willander and his associates, the research team has
devoted years of intense work in order to put the
first commercial white ZnO HB-LED on the market.
